How much does Copart charge when you buy a car? ›

Q: Can I drive my vehicle directly off the lot? You can drive a car directly off the lot if you have insurance on it and have access to dealer tags. Otherwise, we recommend you either have Copart ship it to your business address or hire a third-party transporter to bring it to you.

You have won a vehicle! Please plan payment and shipping right away to avoid late payment and storage fees. You will have 3 business days to pay for the lot, including the day of sale.

To bid more, you'll need to deposit 10% of the total amount you want to bid. So, if you wanted to bid $20,000, you'd need to make a deposit of $2,000. If you are a Premier Member, you only need to make a one-time deposit of $400 to bid up to $100,000 per day.

If you win a lot and don't finalize the purchase (meaning, the lot is not paid in full within 8 calendar days including the day of sale) the Lot will Relist. The Relist fee will be 10% of the final sale price OR $600 – whichever is higher. If you have paid Copart already, contact the Yard directly.

Copart's inventory is mainly composed of wrecked cars from insurance companies, but we also have some consumers who sell their clean title vehicles through us as well. You can find boats or power sports vehicles like jet skis at Copart too!

Can I visit a Copart location to preview vehicles? Yes, and in fact, we encourage you to visit. Although Copart provides 10 high-quality images and accurate descriptions for each vehicle, any information provided is for convenience only.

How does Copart work with insurance? ›

When an auto insurance company determines that a vehicle is a total loss, a state's DMV issues that vehicle a salvage title. Copart specializes in auctioning these type of vehicles. With salvage car inventory in the thousands, you are sure to find the vehicle you want.

Anyone can attend an auction, but you must sign in or register for a Basic or Premier Membership if you'd like to bid on a vehicle.

All Copart Members automatically get $1,000 in Buying Power when they register as a Basic Member. This allows bidding on one vehicle up to $1,000. A deposit is required to bid higher. Deposits must be at least 10% of the amount you plan to bid.

The payment deadline is 3 business days, including day of sale (funds must be received on Copart account within the 3-day period). If not paid within the 3 days, a $50 late fee is assessed on each vehicle. The most reliable payment method for international buyers is wire transfer.

Bidders can bid live against other Members during a virtual auction. If a Member's bid is the highest when the circular, dynamic countdown timer stops, the Member wins the sale of the vehicle (pending sale approval from Seller).
