How do you know if a stock is going to skyrocket?
If you see a stock price movement that could indicate a surge, the volume of trades for that stock can tell you that there's significant interest in the stock and allow you to confirm that it's not a false rally. At the same time, trading volume can be a great sign if the surging price is about to come to an end.
For each share they buy, an investor owns a piece of that company. In large part, supply and demand dictate the per-share price of a stock. If demand for a limited number of shares outpaces the supply, then the stock price normally rises. And if the supply is greater than demand, the stock price typically falls.
In general, strong earnings generally result in the stock price moving up (and vice versa). But some companies that are not making that much money still have a rocketing stock price. This rising price reflects investor expectations that the company will be profitable in the future.
One way to identify potential breakout stocks is by looking for those with increasing volume and price momentum.
We want to know if, from the current price levels, a stock will go up or down. The best indicator of this is stock's fair price. When fair price of a stock is below its current price, the stock has good possibility to go up in times to come.
This ratio is used to assess the current market price against the company's book value (total assets minus liabilities, divided by number of shares issued). To calculate it, divide the market price per share by the book value per share. A stock could be overvalued if the P/B ratio is higher than 1.
One of the most common methods of analyzing stocks is to look at the P/E ratio, which compares a company's current stock price to its earnings per share. P/E is found by dividing the price of one share of a stock by its EPS. Generally, a lower P/E ratio is a good sign.

Oversold is mistakenly viewed by some traders as a buy signal. Instead, it is more of an alert. It lets traders know that an asset is trading in the lower portion of its recent price range or is trading at a lower fundamental ratio than it typically does. This doesn't mean the asset should be bought.
The way to find the best stocks for day trading is by having a scanner that sorts and filters stocks based on volatility and volume. Another way is to keep tabs on the most volatile stocks in the market on a regular basis and keep these on your watchlist.
